8 Oct 2018

On the 27th of September in Campbelltown, the Odyssey House Community Services team hosted a forum for professionals called “Working with clients who have co-occurring AOD and Mental Health Issues”. A big thank you to everyone who attended.

This boutique professional forum, hosted at Odyssey House’s Queen Street office from 10-1pm, was a booked out event and saw attendees eager to learn on the day from the presenter Odyssey House Psychologist, Stephanie Penny.

Topic areas included; the nature of AOD use and mental health and the interaction between them; myths and stigma surrounding AOD use and Mental health issues and options for treating co-occuring AOD and mental health issues.

The event was attended by around 50 people with a wide spectrum of services from the South West Sydney region represented. A big thank you to  Dr Mike Freelander MP Member for Macarthur for attending and for being involved in the general discussion on the day.

Participants in the forum commented that it was a worthwhile and valuable chance to connect with other services, to collaborate and to discuss different approaches with a range of professionals engaged in service delivery.  In particular they liked connecting to other services and that people in the room got to share their experiences.
