On Monday 7 August 2017, Odyssey House Community Services held a day long service forum. “This was the first time all our new staff had come together since the launch of our services into the community the previous month. We covered service topic, training and shared knowledge. Most importantly, we got to know one another,” said Jennifer Frendin, Community Services Program Director.

From June 2017, Odyssey House expanded our community services to the whole of Sydney with service hubs in Blacktown, Campbelltown, Redfern and Chatswood and outreaches in Doonside, Bowral, Bankstown, Fairfield, Tahmoor, Canterbury, and Manly. Our Community Services staff will provide our alcohol and other drugs day program, education and counselling sessions across Sydney through this hub and outreach approach.

Our Community Services are part of our diverse range of services, which also include a community-based withdrawal and residential withdrawal and residential rehabilitation in South Western Sydney. As an organisation, Odyssey House aims to build safe and healthy communities by minimising alcohol and other drug related health, socio and economic harm among individuals, families and communities. 29.2% of the Australian population misuse alcohol and other drugs this translates to a great need for alcohol and drug services in Australia. Odyssey House alone receives on average 30,000 phone enquiries at the Admissions Centre per year and this expansion into non-residential day programs gives us an opportunity to help more of those people in need.
