Prodigal – Elizabeth’s Journey

27 Apr 2018

“I love life now and respect myself and help others to find the freedom that I did”.

I used heroin everyday for 24 years. Then one day I was homeless, with my 3 year old daughter. I attempted suicide. But God saved me. I became clean and sober ten years ago and remain so to this day. I was too stubborn to reach out for help, even though I needed it desperately. I highly recommend rehabs, meetings and medical help even though I had none. I love life now and respect myself and help others to find the freedom that I did.

I wrote my memoir after much prompting by others even though going public was terrifying to me. Especially as I had to consider my 5 children. Now my story has been read widely. I could never have imagined how many people could be inspired by my journey out of the hell of addiction.
