We need your help. Our house is full and our services are growing. We need $4 million over the next 4 years to build onto our house. Our first extension is new premises in Queen Street in Campbelltown for our Community Services that will service South Western Sydney. We are digging into our reserves to purchase this property that will house our day programs that include group therapy, individual psychological counselling, education and support targeted to each client and the level and type of care they need.
Odyssey House Community Services will make a significant, measurable difference to the lives of people across the city.
Lives like Trudy* who came to our Residential Rehabilitation 5 years ago. Trudy had low self-esteem, a need to belong and a desire to fit in and have fun with her friends that led her to experiment with amphetamines at 18: ecstasy, then speed and later ice. Trudy withdrew from her family and friends and eventually lost her job. The turning point came when she ended up in jail, but was allowed to enter Residential Rehabilitation at Odyssey House.
Trudy found her journey at Odyssey House difficult at times, particularly the first six months when she suffered depression caused by amphetamine withdrawal. After 15 months, she completed the program and decided to help others, working at Odyssey House Parents’ and Children’s Program before moving into a role in a community services organisation. She chose to give back to the community and work within it. Trudy is a good example of who we want working for us in our new Community Services. Trudy has truly turned her life around. In fact, she’s become a role model in her job.
